A random thought

How would it be like if I am a teacher?

I have always enjoyed working with youth and the mean age group of teachers should be much younger than my current job. That would translate to a more vibrant social life.

With the mid and end year holidays, there will be much chances to clear an extended period of leave. I can go backpacking!!! ( I fell in love with backpacking after NZ. No more organised tours)

The next NIE intake is in Jan 2008 followed by July 2008.

It will be a thought for now.

26 days into work

Well.. It has been 26 days since I started work.
I must say so far I am still liking it. My colleagues have been taking care of me and with the ample time given to learn the ropes, I really have nothing to complain.

I once learned something about people's mentality towards work in a HR module back in NUS. Young workers into the workforce have the drive in them and seek jobs which allow them to climb up the corporate ladder with the goal of craving out a career. Older workers tend to look for jobs which offers them stability with a niche income and workplace environment.

Most of my colleagues belong to the 2nd category and I am in a cosy work environment. Many have gotten their 10 years service awards and going onto 15 years soon. A couple of them have gotten their 20 and 25 years awards. (I will be getting my 1 month award soon)

This give rise to a new concern. Will I lose my drive to work hard and be satisfied with the niche environment. I certainly hope not.

Friday, August 24

It's Friday.. again.

Time somehow flies after I started working.
It is already my 3rd week.
It's Friday again and I am knocking off in 10 mins time.

So far...... still good.

The Alchemist

Paulo Coelho's enchanting novel has inspired millions of delighted readers around the world. This story, dazzling in its simplicity and wisdom, is about an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago who ventures from his homeland in Spain to North Africa in search of a treasure buried in the Pyramids. Along the way he meets a beautiful, young gypsy woman, a man who calls himself a king, and an alchemist, all of whom point Santiago in the direction of his quest. No one knows what the treasure is or if Santiago can surmount the obstacles along the way through the desert. But what starts out as a boyish adventure to discover exotic places and worldly wealth turns into a quest for the treasures only found within. Lush, evocative, and deeply humane, Santiago's story is an eternal testament to following our dreams and listening to our hearts.

My Personality?

You Are An INFJ

The Protector

You live your life with integrity, originality, vision, and creativity.
Independent and stubborn, you rarely stray from your vision - no matter what it is.
You are an excellent listener, with almost infinite patience.
You have complex, deep feelings, and you take great care to express them.

In love, you truly see relationships as an opportunity to connect and grow.
You enjoy relationships as long as they are improving and changing. You can't stand stagnation.

At work, you stay motivated and happy... as long as you are working toward a dream you support.
You would make a great photographer, alternative medicine guru, or teacher.

How you see yourself: Hardworking, ethical, and helpful

When other people don't get you, they see you as: Manipulative, weak, and unstable

I attempted a personality test over at www.blogthings.com and the analysis I gotten was interesting. I have never thought of myself as a Protector.

Those in red do not exactly describe me.
But those in green describe me rather accurately.

Work Commences

I officially started work on Wednesday 1st August 2007 @ Honeywell. The workplace, like its name, has a friendly feel to it. My colleagues are friendly and quick to show me the culture of the company. So Far So Good.

Just a complaint:
Mean age group: 40 years old.

Drum Sets - Updated

After consulting my drum teacher, it doesn't seems to be a wise idea to get an acoustic drum set factoring in many consideration. My original idea of building a platform to reduce the bass vibration may not work as well. For now, i am setting my sight on this Yamaha DTXplorer.

Pros: I will have the luxury of jamming with my drum even in the wee hours of the night should I can't get to sleep. With the help of a headphone.

Cons: Lack of feel unlike the real acoustic drum set.

Retail price: S$1380
