Singapore Women Tennis Exhibition

This event took place last weekend in Singapore Indoor Stadium and I got tickets to the semi-finals, along with 2 other friends who are into this sports as well. This has got to be the biggest tennis event in local scene in a long time. Being a tennis fanatic (kind of), I got the tickets shortly after i got to know about this match and in less than a couple of days later, there i was seated right smack in the center of the stadium watching the live matches taking place.

No big names were involved in this exhibition match actually, except for Samantha Stosur from Australia. She was the one who won US Open 2011, after beating Serena Williams. She played for the 2nd semi-final match. It was indeed an eye-opener to see world ranking players taking on the court and playing a competitive match. The feel is drastically different from watching it on screen. The venue has a capacity of 12,000 but for the Q-final, the turn-out was on 500. On the semi-final, it was 1000. It is pathetic. I would imagine the players/ level of enthusiasm must have been quite dampened by the poor turn-out. But despite so, the players gave their all in the match and its really amazing to watch tennis live. Despite the poor turn-out, I totally enjoyed the game. Imagine how it would feel like to watch one of the Grand Slam live - Australia Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon or US Open. I am sure the ambience would have been electrifying!

I am going to make it my to-do list to watch one of these Grand Slam live.

Taken from where i am seated - Its a central View. Nice!

Interviews going on after the match
Australia Open Crowd - WOW!

December is here!

1) I am thankful to God for His provision at work, granting me favour with customers. I have performed well the last 3 months and all glory to God!

2) I am happy to see some progress in my drumming skill. Finally. It is not so hard after all. Proper coaching plus some effort to practice diligently is all that is required.

3) I am going for a MT tomorrow. Anticipating God to work through me and the team to be a blessing to the people in TU. I know i will usually be the one coming away blessed by them.

4) My 2 weeks of compliance leave starts next Tuesday and I can't wait for the extended break from work.

5) The Boracay trip with one of my cell mate is also coming up, from Wed - Sat. The photos of Boracay were simply awesome. Hope the trip doesn't disappoint.

6) December is here and joyous mood will soon fills the air. We celebrate the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Its time to believe

God has show me His faithfulness ever since I became a believer. He is still showing me his faithfulness even after 7years. Even today, I have come to experience His blessing upon my life and how that happen as a result of simply placing my trust in Him. Having said that, His faithfulness has never wavered in times of my disbelief. Such a blessing.

The abundant life is indeed out there for me to claim. I yearn for the day where I know I am walking perfectly in His Will.

Marathon

The 40DOC campaign in my church Grace AOG has concluded on a high note today. We remember what God has done these past 6 weeks and the closeness we experience as we walked closer to Him. We also anticipate many good things ahead, remembering His promise "to finish the good work He started in us".

If there is one thing which God has impressed upon my heart, it is the discipline to read and study His words on a daily basis. If I want to accomplish any of God's will for me, it has to start from here. Period. This is really something I sense God wants me to incorporate into my everyday living. I have no doubt of the impact it will have on my life.

Before the service concluded, we were given our very own Race Tag for this spiritual marathon we are on.

1 Corinthians 9:25 " Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever"

Pit Stops

Just started reading a book on self leadership. Personally i feel it is necessary to lead yourself well to move on ahead in life. What makes this book interesting is the use of images to drive the point across.

Second chapter of the book is titled "The Starving Baker". Applied to the christian leader context, have we so often care for those around us, feeding them with spiritual nourishment, that we have forgotten to take time to feed ourselves. With all the food around us, have we starved ourselves? It is essentially about taking time for self care, to cover more distance in our race and to do it better.

On a similar note, I was having a dinner with a colleague after work just earlier. It was a casual talk but was reminded of some values which have unknowingly slipped my mind. I was glad for the reminder. I guess this is one of the benefit of deliberately taking time off to connect with others and to connect with yourself.
