Langkawi 2010

Well, 4D3N in Langkawi passed just so quickly. It was not boring as I thought it might be, considering it's just 2 guys. But it was a relatively good trip with some new experiences along the way.

The travellers - An old time JC friend.
(PS: Tiger is the way - Return tickets cost us just S$80 per person!)

Hotel No. 1 - Our room in a messy state.

The supposedly garden view from our window. It's just a deserted algae infested pond which turned green due to lack of maintenance. Overgrown vegetation covering the balcony too. Bad!

After 2 N stay in Hotel 1, we decided to scout for a better alternative hotel. While driving randomly after dinner 1 night, we came across one which has really good sea view. Facilities looks good and it's cheaper too.

View from Hotel 2. Room has sea view and it's really unobstructed view. Very cool.

The interior of Hotel 2

Messiness after 1 afternoon. What else can u expect from 2 guys?

Sunrise as view from our hotel room. Cool again.

This above pic is not from our hotel. Not Hotel 1 nor 2. This is the third hotel we came across while driving around. This is THE HOTEL. Westin resort or sth. This is their swimming pool which is just some distance from the sea. See the colour contrast above. It's exclusive with their very own quiet beach. Villa is just a stone throw from the sea (really a stone throw) and the villa comes with their own private pool and garden. It cost S$900 for low season per night.

Hotel 3 beach. We were in time for a nice sunset.

An emo moment

Still on the same beach with my faithful sunglass.

What we did

1) Beaches of course. Went sun-tanning. But over-crowded with Ang Mohs and couldn't find good spot. So didn't last that long.

2) Watched people did Parasailing... Haha. We didn't.

3) Eagle watching and feeding.

Eagle diving down for pieces of meat.

4) Jalan Jalan quite a bit. Came across this cigar store where we bought a pack of Cigar. We are non-smokers anyway, just to try it out. Also went to a beach pub. Night life in Langkawi isn't that happening. We had some problem trying to find a decent pub.

Cigar Store

The cigar with Vanilla taste.

5) Went take Cable car. No ordinary cable car, but one that is super high that takes you to this bridge that is suspended in the midst of nowhere. Good view from up here thou. Made a few friends along the way. These guys are from England. Currently having internship in Penang as Physio-therapist. Interesting.

This is how high we are ( if the number makes sense to you)

Taking a pix at the high point

6) More lazing around at beaches.

Sunset moments

7) Island hopping - In this island with cat fishes swimming past ur leg. I have no idea why people are so gian on this. They don't exactly feed on your dead skin, but just swim past. But interesting enough for me to try. Haha.

Welcoming us to the island

The crowd

The fishes

Me

One of the few single shot I took. At one of the island we hopped.

Sunset... with my leg.

The things are considered cheap in Langkawi. But the thing is they have limited variety, so u can find the same thing everywhere. We had a lot of fried rice for our meal. Thai style, singapore style, chinese style, malay style etc... Omelet is also everywhere. Thai style, onion, cheese etc...

One of our breakfast we had

One of the fried rice I mentioned.

Another fried rice. This one is good. Mix all the ingredient and eat. Very fragrant.

We had some seafood on the last day.
(Their calamari is good. Big bite size fried squid with thai sauce. YUM)

Last but not least, the thing that made this a worthwhile trip was the driving experience. Yes, we rented a car for our entire stay and took turn to drive round Langkawi. It was a Proton Wira. It certainly feels shiok to drive around with no instructor beside u and on highway with little traffic. Still careful is the word. But it certainly was a great experience for me who has yet to drive in Singapore yet. Haha...

Our mean of transport for the entire stay

Langkawi

Langkawi, here I come. May it be a time of great fun under the sun. Leaving Fri afternoon and coming back Monday afternoon. 4D3N. Hope I dun get bored there thou.

On a different note, I have been yearning so much to know my solid rock Jesus Christ even deeper. To let Him be the center of it all and to know truly my hope is in Him alone. Hope that is not based on feelings/emotion which changes as the wind blows. Not on my intellectual thinking which gets me entangled up all the more. Not on the circumstances that the world brings on me.

But, on the everlasting hope in Christ Jesus alone.

Akan Datang

Well, this is going to be a short week for me. I will be on leave this coming Friday and the following Monday for a short getaway trip to Langkawi with a bro from JC times. The adventurous us booked the Tiger tickets last November. It's my first proper overseas trip since my family Korea trip in December 2008 (discounting Melaka and mission trips last year). Looking forward to a relaxing time at the resort and by the beach. Hope this will be a good time of rest & recreation - a quality one and be recharged, re-energize and re-focused after this trip. My friend has already tell me he's bringing books there to read... haha. with 4D3N there, i think I shd have time for some reading too. But there are some activities we can do there, like mangrove kayaking, the cable car ride with splendid view, massage, spa, eat, shop.... but i reckon we will give those expensive programmes a miss. I am already stretched having to set aside money for the coming car. Plus I want to meet my 2010 resolution of having some saving.

As we can only register our car after 25th Jan for the new OPC scheme, the earliest collection date will be 1st week of February. It's getting exciting owning a car as the date draws nearer.

Time to move on

I am looking forward to changes - career wise.

I have decided to make a move by rejected the internal offer. I will now start looking around for something better.

I am trusting in God's leading every step of the way.
