Korea Family Trip 2008

In no particular order, here's what we did in the recent Korea Trip.

1) SKI (OF COURSE)
Highlight of the trip got to be the skiing. White snowy ground + clear blue sky. It's the ideal combination for photo opportunities. The last time I was presented with such combination was in New Zealand. Even thou the ski resort do not have calf deep white snow, but we do get to ski here. That was fun! We put on the full ski attire and got into a photo taking frenzy. Just me and my cousins la actually... After ~15 mins of lesson by tour guide, we were left to conquer our first gentle slope.

We try to ski, then fell, then laughed and tried to get up. Most can't. (I can anyway... lol). But it was just loads of fun just trying to make our way up the gentle slope then to ski down. For the 2 plus hours of skiing, we were sweating from all the exercising that we forgot abt the cold weather.

Apart from the skiing, we also had the chance to do the thing shown below. Sliding down the ice/snow slope using a float kind of thing. Quite fun. This was at Everland, the theme park we visited.

2) Food

Of course food is another highlight. Apart from the daily buffet breakfast, we tried various local Korea dishes. Not exactly the hotplate kind that u find at our food courts, but rather the authentic Korean dishes. These includes BBQ hotplate where you wrapped lettuce with meat and rice within. Add on some sauce and throw it into your mouth. Forgot what it's called, but it is simply delicious. Eh, nothing like Seoul Garden. Much nicer :)

There were also many side dishes and steamboat consisting mixture of cabbage-meat-bean sprouts. And we had Bibimban, all the side dishes (including Kimchi )and Ginseng chicken soup. These were not fantastic thou. Perhaps if we had gone to the locals frequented restaurants it would have been nicer. The ones catered for tourist seems to lack the quality.

3) Sight-seeing
Actually there wasn't much. Except for the first day where we visited Naomi Island which is the filming location for Winter Sonata. It doesn't appeals to me as I did not watch the show. This was our first itinerary upon reaching Korea and that morning got to be the coldest we experienced for our stay in Korea. We had to stop by every fire-pit we find along the way just to warm our freezing hands and legs.

(Think this has got to be the most scenic picture liao)

4) Traditional Costume

We had some fun trying on their traditional costumes and taking pictures as you can see below.

5) Casino

Mum, Dad and Aunts were qute fascinated with the casino. It doesn't entice me, so after walking one round inside, decided not to return for more visits. Luckily for me and my cousins, we saw snow that night when the rest were in casino. LOL.

6) Snowing Night

We saw snow. It was nice. My hand almost froze while taking all the photos and video.

7) Artistic shots

Some shots of the trees with the blue sky as backgrd. Easily become wall paper worthy. Haha. Just joking.

Korea was so much more fun than the Guilin Tour we had last December. Perhaps it's because of the chance to ski. In all, it was a great trip :)
